Security?
I played Guild Wars for awhile, but mostly just sticking to PvP, when I started playing hardcore, then I bought all the expansions, even the little things that I didn't think I would use oh-so-frequently. However, I quit, but came back about a day ago, while I am FOR SURE I remember my account name and password, apparently GW thought other wise. I tried for multiple hours doing whatever I could, but couldn't. I can't report the issue to GW, as I have hardly any proof I am the true owner, all the stuff they said to keep was at my father's house before he died, and it's probably lost forever.
So I just decided, "Eh, what the hell, I'll make a new account." I did just that, and when I was trying to buy all the trilogies, and get all the stuff I would see as a need to PvP, (core skill unlock, prophecies skill unlock, etc etc) I get this damn error. I can't remember the exact words, but I looked it up, and found some sites saying that there's a new, "Security measure" allowing you to buy only so much per day. From what I see, this is more time consuming, and when I say time consuming, meaning almost too much for anyone in my position to play. You are expecting ME to wait a DAY for EACH ITEM? I want to play GW NOW, not a week from now, I quit my other game to play GW, and in fact, so deperate to play GW I am to make a whole new entire account, meaning sacrificing a year to two of work, and about 100-200$ worth of cash just to play. And I can't even do that. Well, I can, I just have to PvP with a maximum of 5 abilities. :3 They said, "You can buy from other sites." however I highly doubt that I can buy in-game stuff (not the trilogies, I can survive without the trilogy for awhile if need be) from another site, /any/ site. The main question being, is it possible buying items in-game? (such as the store, buying core-skills, mission packs, and such) But on the side, another question being, do I really have to wait a week or so just to start playing because they have security checks or whatever? Can I buy multiple things at once or? Note: I tried buying this stuff in-game, and on the NCsoft site. Thanks to all for replying, for future reference. OP have you TRIED to contact ncsoft regarding your old account?
(and yes they have a limit on how much you can buy each day ...you could always play pve while waiting to buy the pvp pack--and maybe unlock a few elites and skills that way). sorry we cant be of more assistance but they have the limits in place for some reason (which somehow defies logic)....but its their company and if they only want to take in x amount each day I guess thats all they need

To be honest, no I haven't tried. They gave a example, and said to give as many of my keys as possible, which concerning the expansions, is none. I however do have some things on my email regarding some purchases I made on the account, two I believe. However, would that be enough?
And yeah, I suppose it was asking a bit much, I had my hopes up, t'is all. I was hoping that I was mistaken, that someone had a few ideas to give to enable me to play again, but I guess not. I mean, I can understand limiting things, however not with such a short leash, it's like holding a dog in thin air with a short rope. But coming back around to the first question I presented in this reply, would it be enough? I don't think it would, I could give it a try, but how long does it take for them to reply? |

I have yet to have to deal with the customer service end of ncsoft, but try to provide what you can (yes give them the information from the emails as it is what you have for those)----their response time varies greatly, some have had them reply in a day, others have waited much longer. It is all very case dependent....but you wont know until you try it and see (you might be amazed that they can help you and quickly!)
good luck with it.

As cosy said, contact Support. If you can give them details such as name, address, birthdate that match the account, along with rough creation date and perhaps some character names, then you have a chance of getting the account password. The emails you mentioned will be a big help as an account hacker would be unlikely to possess those.
Your first response from Support will most likely be an automated one. Just respond to that to keep the chain going and, somewhere from hours to a few days, you will get in contact with a real person. Good luck. If that takes longer than a few days, you can also try through a message to [email protected] with LOST PASSWORD in the subject line. Include all the info you remember and mention the emails you can supply. Also include your support ticket number from the previous attempt, so they can clear it.

Ok and i just wanted to add to this conversation(idk if it got solved i stoped reading the thread after this quote ) but i remember a story about 10~15 years ago in the western USA about these 2 kids that were going inot the parking lots of huge shopping malls. Now what they did was they would hack through the flimsy firewall keeping people out and they would have the signal for when anyone swiped their credit card so they could obtain name account and pin numbers and everything. Now they would then load the data onto an empty credit card and they were done and could just go max out the card as they saw fit. So it can happen and im surprised it doesnt happen more. But yes they added that as a safety measure so peoples credit cards/people that plan on botting have to wait some before they can completely customize their accounts and get right in to it. Also to note about it alot of GW players have been playing id say for a couple months now(thats the green players most of us id say are 1~3yrs+) so anyone that would have wanted something from teh store could've gotten it by now. |

I've purchased multiple items, one after another, with no trouble at all. I was using Paypal though, not a credit card, so if you have that option available, you might give it a try.
As for account recovery, open a ticket with support even if you decide to buy the game all over again. It may take a week or so, but they can help you recover your account with even very little information. Just give them everything you have, leaving out nothing that might help connect you to your old account and see what happens. You'll likely end up with two accounts and that much more storage space. Good luck. |
